A DISTRICT - Robbery and vehicle theft, York Street, North Belfast

Detectives in North Belfast are appealing for information after a report of robbery at business premises at the York Street area this morning (Friday, 3rd February).

Shortly after 9:55am, it was reported that a man entered a shop in the area armed with a suspected handgun. It is believed that a sum of money was taken during the incident. The man is reported to have been wearing a camouflage jacket. No one was reported injured during the incident.

It is believed that a silver Fiat car which was hijacked last week was used during the incident. It is believed that the vehicle was stolen from the Newtownards Road, East Belfast area on Saturday, 28th January. The vehicle was recovered this afternoon at the Thorndale Avenue, North Belfast area. Enquiries are continuing.
