Armed robbery, Castlereagh
23 Jul 2010
Detectives are investigating a robbery at a convenience store in the Braniel estate on Thursday evening. It is understood that two males, both armed with handguns, entered the shop shortly before 7pm. One of the males jumped the counter and took keys from a staff member before attempting, unsuccessfully, to gain access to the Post Office within the premises and an ATM machine. They then took a sum of cash from a till and made off along Ravenswood Crescent towards the Lower Braniel Road.
One of the men was wearing a black anorak with the hood up, a red t-shirt, navy tracksuit trousers and white trainers. The other man was wearing a beige jacket, navy hat, grey tracksuit trousers and white trainers.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with information to contact them at Castlereagh on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
