Robbery, Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast

Detectives are appealing for information following a robbery at a bookmakers shop on the Upper Newtownards Road. The incident took place shortly before 6pm on Wednesday evening (21 July). It is understood that a member of staff was confronted at the rear door of the premises by a man with his face covered by a scarf. The member of staff was pushed back into the premises by the man who was followed by another male. One of the men stayed with the staff member while his accomplice forced another member of staff to hand over a substantial sum of cash. Both men made off towards the Asda car park and a walkway leading to Robbs Road.
The robbers were wearing high visibility vests, baseball caps, gloves and had scarves covering their faces. No weapons were produced. The staff members were not injured but shaken by the incident.
