Cash-in-transit robbery, Suffolk Road, Belfast

06 Feb 2010

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cash-in-transit driver was robbed on the Suffolk Road in West Belfast on Saturday morning, 6 February.

The driver was making a delivery to an off-license in the area shortly after 9am when he was approached by a male armed with what's believed to have been a handgun.

The male threatened the driver before making off on foot with a cash box containing a large sum of money.

The robber is described as approximately 5' 8" tall, of a medium build and was wearing a grey baseball cap, blue jeans, white trainers and a black jacket with an orange high visibility vest over the top.

Police believe the culprit may have been posing as a litter warden in the area prior to the robbery and they are keen to speak to anyone who noticed a male fitting this description.
