H District - Missing person appeal, Ballymena

03 Jan 2012

Police in Ballymena are continuing their search for 49 year old Samuel Campbell. Sam left his home to go out on his bicycle on Sunday afternoon (01/01/12) and was last seen at around 2.15pm that day on the Tully Road in Kells. He was wearing a red top with the letters T.C.G. on it with black tracksuit bottoms. He is around six foot tall, of a slim build with short dark hair.

Speaking at a media facility earlier today, Detective Inspector Bob Blemmings said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned about the whereabouts of Sam and would appeal for members of the public who may have seen him out cycling in the Ballymena area on Sunday or who may have any information that could help us with our enquiries, to contact police on 0845 600 8000."

Detective Inspector Blemmings explained that extensive searches of the Ballymena area are being carried out by police officers, sniffer dogs, helicopter, partner agencies and the local community. He added: "Sam regularly cycled 20-30 miles so I would also urge land-owners in the greater Ballymena area to check their property in case he may have taken unwell along his cycle route."
