Human Resources

The Police Service is one of Northern Ireland’s largest employers.  The Human Resources department is responsible for developing, supporting and training all officers and staff, promoting their health and welfare and ensuring that the right people with the right skills are allocated to help make Northern Ireland a safer place for everyone.

The Human Resources Department consists of five branches.

Equality and Diversity

The Equality and Diversity Unit is responsible for developing and driving the Police Service’s commitment to promoting equality of opportunity and diversity.  We strive to ensure our workforce not only reflects the community it serves but is also capable of meeting its needs.

Health and Safety

The Health and Safety Branch is responsible for the implementation of all Health and Safety Legislation applicable to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Occupational Health and Welfare

The Occupational Health and Welfare Branch is made up of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.  They are committed to supporting the health of the organisation, and helping officers and support staff to maintain their health and well-being in order to carry out their duties safely and effectively.

Personnel

Personnel Branch’s role includes the management of recruitment contracts, allocation of officers and staff, reward, recognition and employee relations.

Police College

The Police College promote learning and development whilst ensuring officers and staff are equipped with the necessary skills to carry out their roles effectively.
