The Information and Communications Services (ICS) Branch provides a range of information and communication technology (ICT) services to support the PSNI.  The principal objective of ICS is ‘to ensure that the ICT needs of the PSNI are met in an efficient and effective manner which represents value for money for the Police Service.’

The work of ICS embraces a wide spectrum of technology-related activities in the delivery and support of Information Systems (IS) / Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunications services across the organisation.

Our services cover:

  • Deployment of technology in policing activities
  • Developing and delivering the Information Systems (IS) strategy
  • Developing and supporting the information technology and communications infrastructure
  • Information management and security
  • Emerging technologies
  • Delivery of major information and technology-enabled business change programmes

We strive to place the PSNI at the forefront of law enforcement technology and much of what we do in ICS supports frontline policing, making Northern Ireland safer for everyone through professional, progressive policing.  Consequently, the ongoing operation, support and maintenance of existing systems are core activities for ICS.
