Medical Examination
After an attack it is important that you are medically examined so that you can get medical help if you need it and important evidence can be collected.
The purpose of a medical examination is to make sure you get the right medical help, as well as to look for evidence.
The examination will be carried out by a trained doctor. We will not carry this out without your permission so we will need you to sign a consent form.
The examination room is no different from a doctor’s surgery and, if possible, we will give you a choice of a male or female doctor. Afterwards you can shower or have a bath and we can provide you with clean clothes if you need them.
Remember, everything is confidential so you can discuss any concerns you have with the examining doctor or any of our officers.
