Anti Social Behaviour

Anti-social behaviour has been reduced for the third month in a row.  Anti-social behaviour operations are conducted every week.  Each month, operations are also conducted with officers from Belfast City Council,  These joint patrols include checks on local off licences.  Victoria NPT officers continually review and identify areas of concern, and dedicate their patrolling time accordingly.  A monthly review is also carried out to identify repeat victims of anti-social behaviour.  Repeat victims are visited by their local beat officer who can assist in solving their problems and offer reassurance.  When persistent offenders are identified, NPT officers look closely at how best to reduce their offending, working jointly with BCC and housing associations.  This can involve warning letters or home visits with parents of youths involved in low level nuisance behaviour.

Burglaries

The main targets have been commercial and domestic burglaries, and the theft of lead and metal.  Victoria NPT continues to plan and run anti-burglary operations each week, to try to reduce the number of burglaries.  These are targeted as any patterns appear.  This also includes carrying out rigorous bail checks on priority offenders to ensure they are complying with any conditions set by the courts.

Land at 44 Belmont Church Road is unoccupied and an eyesore.

Councillor Laura McNamee has met with the complainant.  She has made numerous attempts to contact the owner, without success.  This is to try and get him to clear up the site and cut back the vegetation.

Con Boyd from Victoria NPT has also visited and spoken to the practice manager.  The have placed notices in the waiting room.  Building work / improvements have been / are being carried out and this issue will be looked at again in the near future.
