Police trainee recruitment is managed by Deloitte MCS Limited (previously referred to as The Consensia Partnership).
Qualifications and Eligibility
There are no formal qualification requirements for student officers. However applicants must:
- meet age criteria, by being at least 18 or under 57 years of age on appointment.
- meet nationality requirements.
- ensure they do not have a conviction that will exclude them.

Application Stages
The process has a number of stages:
- Complete an application form and equality monitoring form
- Application screening (age and nationality requirements)
- Initial selection test
- Assessment centre
- Medical examination (police vetting process also starts)
- Pool of qualified candidates who have met the assessment standards is created
- Selection of trainees on 50:50 basis
