False Bank / Cash Machine Readers

Numerous attachments can be made to cash machines for fraudulent purposes.  A variation on ‘skimming’ involves attaching false fronts with built-in magnetic strip readers to cash machines and using pinhole cameras to extract the PIN as well as the data on the magnetic strip.  Another thing to be aware of at a cash machine is the criminal who “shoulder surfs” or attempts to look over your shoulder to steal your pin code or other details.  If you think the cash machine you are using has been tampered with, or you think someone behind you is trying to monitor your movements, cancel the transaction and move to another machine.
