Concerns re Underage drinking                                             Working in partnership with Colin Neighbourhood Partnership, Colin Safer Neighbourhood, Dunmurry Community Association, Milltown Community Association, Lisburn DPP, local licensees and Community Restorative Justice, we launched the NO ID No Sale initiative.

The objective of the initiative was to ensure local Off Licence staff would only accept a valid Driving Licence, Passport or Electoral card as proof of age of anyone they suspected to be under 18yrs attempting to purchase alcohol.

Over the past 6 months Dunmurry NPT has made some of the highest alcohol seizures within the province which has seen a marked reduction on alcohol related offences in the area

Concerns Re ASB

We continue to work in Partnership with local Resident Associations, Community Representatives and local Youth clubs to support and funding for ongoing initiatives to divert youths from engaging in Anti social behaviour

Over the past several weeks following complaints re ASB in the Mounteagles area, Dunmurry NPT have liaised with the Mounteagles Residents Association and local community representatives to work in partnership to resolve this issue.  Already we have seen a marked reduction of ASB calls to this area.

Concerns re DrugsSince September 2011, following concerns raised by the local community reference the availability of controlled drugs in the Dunmurry area, successful police search and arrest operations under Section 23 of The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 have been conducted which have recovered approximately £107,500 of various controlled drugs, and cannabis cultivation equipment.  A number of arrests have followed resulting in persons being reported to the Public Prosecution Service.  The Dunmurry NPT team are fully committed in addressing the issue of controlled drugs in the area and actively encourage members of the public to report any information reference illegal drug activity to their local Neighbourhood officers directly or confidentially via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
