Anti Social Behaviour

At a recent Antrim Line CPLC meeting a number of residents raised the issue of anti-social behaviour in the village area of Glengormley.  We raised the profile of the problem via local press and Facebook.  Performed additional patrols in the area at key times and arrested 8 persons during the month of October 2011.  Educated the young persons involved through a series of meetings supported by the DPP and Community Relations Forum.

At a recent Partners and Community Together (PACT) meeting staff at Tesco Carnmoney Road raised the issue of anti-social behaviour outside their store.  We performed additional preventative patrols in the area at key times which resulted in a reduction in reports of anti-social behaviour.

BurglaryRecorded and monitored reports, targeted patrols to provide reassurance and prevention in identified areas. Circulated crime prevention advice at meetings and via regular press releases.

Drugs

A number of concerned parents and community representatives recently raised the issue of drug abuse by adults and young persons in the Queens Park and Glenvarna areas.  We conducted additional patrols in the area at key times and increased our drug search activity.  Organised and hosted a drug awareness event for residents in conjunction with Forum Action Substance Abuse (FASA).  The event was held at the local council offices and was supported by the District Policing Partnership (DPP).

Details of Neighbourhood Watch / Residents groups / DPP

There are numerous Neighbourhood Schemes in the Antrim Line area, working in close partnership with Neighbourhood officers in the prevention and detection of crime. If you are interested in more information please contact your local NPT officer.

The Antrim Line Forum has been established for many years and operates effectively within the area. Regular meetings are held giving local residents and elected representatives direct access to Neighbourhood officers. This enables issues to be dealt with locally.
