We did

Anti Social BehaviourAt a recent Ballyclare CPLC meeting a number of residents raised the issue of anti-social behaviour in the Huntingdale area of Ballyclare.  We held a meeting with local residents to establish background and extent of problem.  Raised the profile of the problem via local press.  Performed additional Hi-visibility patrols in the area at key times and reported a number of young persons to Constable McMillan ASB Liaison officer.  Police intervention has reduced incident of ASB.

BurglaryA number of residents in the outlying villages of Burnside and Doagh recently highlighted an upsurge in domestic burglary.  We worked with Police Analyst to establish key times and locations.  Performed preventative Hi-visibility patrols in the hotspot areas.  Increased use of stop and search powers in appropriate circumstances.  Provided isolated residents with crime prevention advice through local press and Neighbourhood Watch Scheme co-ordinators.

Speeding

A number of Ballynure residents raised the issue of vehicles speeding on the A8 through the village.  The NPT performed a number of laser based speed detection operations at key times, which resulted in a number of drivers receiving a Fixed Penalty Notice.  This activity has led to greater awareness of the issue and compliance with the speed limit on that stretch of the A8.

The Ballyclare Forum has been established for many years and operates effectively within the area. Regular meetings are held giving local residents and elected representatives direct access to Neighbourhood officers. This enables issues to be dealt with locally.
