We did

Anti Social BehaviourWe continue to work in Partnership with local Resident Associations, Community Representatives and local Youth clubs to support ongoing initiatives to divert youths from engaging in Anti social behaviour.  We also direct our patrols to areas highlighted by the community as having specific issues with Anti social behaviour in order to prevent, educate and deter this activity.

BurglaryUnfortunately the Newtownabbey area has had a series of burglaries of residential properties whilst the householders have attended places of worship on Sunday evenings.  As a result we have targeted proactive patrols in the areas affected in order to detect offenders and provide reassurance to the local community.  Personal visits to those impacted by these crimes have been made by the local neighbourhood officers offering additional security advice and physical security measures under the 4 tier scheme.  Please watch out for your neighbours and your community.

Drugs

Following information raised from the local community reference the availability of controlled drugs in the Newtownabbey area, police carried out search and arrest operations under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 which have recovered approximately £17k of various controlled drugs, and cannabis cultivation equipment.  A number of arrests have followed resulting in persons being reported to the Public Prosecution Service.  The Macedon NPT team are fully committed in addressing the issue of controlled drugs in the area and actively encourage members of the public to report any information reference illegal drug activity to their local Neighbourhood officers directly or confidentially via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Road Safety Issues

We continue to proactively address the main causation factors of Killed or Seriously Injured Road Traffic Collisions.  Operations are implemented using Neighbourhood officers and officers from Roads Policing to detect Drink Driving, Excess Speed, Careless and Dangerous driving, Mobile Phone usage, and Failing to Wear Seatbelts.

Details of Neighbourhood Watch / Residents groups / DPP

There are numerous Neighbourhood Schemes in the Macedon area, working in close partnership with Neighbourhood officers in the prevention and detection of crime. If you are interested in more information please contact your local NPT officer.

The Macedon Forum was established for many years but unfortunately has fallen by the wayside due to a lack of engagement. The local Neighbourhood Inspector, Inspector McKeown would be keen to re-establish this forum.
