Portadown

Portadown is a traditional Northern Ireland market town of historical significance. It has a mixture of housing around a vibrant town centre which has recently undergone an extensive public realm scheme which has rejuvenated this area. The town has the River Bann running through its centre which provides recreational opportunities which are to be advanced in the future. There are nineteen schools in the area, and a large variety of places of worship. It has a town Health Centre as well as Craigavon Area Hospital. There are other significant municipal buildings such as the library and the old Town Hall. |
Portadown has a history of industry with traditional firms such as Ulster Carpet Mills and Dennys. The industrial estates on the edge of town include large companies such as Moypark and Almac as well as a host of smaller enterprises.
The neighbourhood area includes a rural section reaching to Maghery on the shores of Lough Neagh.
