Rural crime

Fermanagh West NPT are working closely with Fermanagh North NPT who have set up a Farm Watch Scheme. If a farmer signs up for the scheme, they will be notified by telephone when a theft occurs/suspicious vehicle sighted. They are also offered various property marking techniques. The Farm Watch scheme for Fermanagh will be launched in April 2012.

Property thefts in the Florencecourt Area

In March and April of this year there were a number of thefts of personal property from vehicles parked at beauty spot car parks in the area of Florencecourt. Over the next six months the Fermanagh West neighbourhood policing team worked in partnership with the Fermanagh District Council, Community Safety Partnership and staff at Marble Arch Caves. Sign-age was erected at all the beauty spot car parks, warning the public not to leave valuables in their vehicles. High visibility patrols were conducted in the area by police and staff from Fermanagh District Council conducted daily patrols of all the car parks in livered council vehicles. Any vehicles that had valuables left in them, the owners were contacted and given advice. Crime prevention leaflets were left on all parked vehicles.

We are pleased to report that from the Easter period to date there has only been one theft from a vehicle in the area.

Request for speed restrictions in Florencecourt

A member of the public recently raised the issue to police in relation to the need for a speed restriction in the area of Florencecourt. A speed restriction has now been passed for the area and the sign-age had been erected warnings drivers of the new 40 mph speed limit on the March Arch Road and Coraghrim Road. Police will monitor traffic and speed in the area.

Quads been driven on the main road

Following complaints received from members of the public in Arney and Bellanaleck about quads being driven on the roads, police identified a number of persons involved, they were spoken too and this activity has ceased.

Speeding Cashel Cross, Cashel

Following consultation speed restriction sign-age has now been erected at Cashel Cross, Cashel

If you would like further information on the creation of a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme or residents group for your area please contact Sgt Michael Patton
