We did

Anti Social Behaviour

Concerns raised about Anti Social Behavior in Artigarvan with young people throwing eggs at houses and vehicles.

Spoke with victims, collated names of offenders and spoke with suspected young people in the presence of their parents.

We have placed dedicated patrols in the Artigarvan area at the relevant times. This has alleviated the problem to date with a reduction in complaints.

Anti Social Behaviour

Issues with young people congregating in the Ballycolman area and causing annoyance to residents and business owners in the area.

Regular beat patrols of the area in the evenings at key times. We have interacted with the young people and liased with community representatives.

Community representatives have put in place intervention programs and initiatives to reduce this behaviour which have been attended by Sgt. Warnock and Constable McGonagle who spoke to the young people.

Anti Social Behaviour

Young people congregating at entrance to Laurel Drive in huge numbers leading to annoyance being caused to residents in the area.

Beat and cycle patrols in the area. We engaged with the young people involved and encouraged them to meet in alternative places. We visited Holy Cross College and spoke with the pupils in relation to ASB and Human Rights. We held a meeting for concerned residents which ultimately has led to the formation of a Neighbourhood Watch initiative in the area. At present there are no issues in this area.

Theft

Concerns raised around rural crime, particularly the theft of Quads and Trailers from farms.

The trailer marking initiative which has been incorporated by An Garda Sciochana in an attempt to reduce cross border crime. A number of trailer marking days have taken place in Strabane, Castlederg, Newtownstewart, Donemana, Plumbridge and Cranagh. The text alert scheme has also been developed in conjunction with this to enable police to text farmers regarding crime in their respective areas.

Theft

There was a problem with shoplifting at a major retail site in Strabane.

Dedicated high visibility beat patrols. Utilised the Mobile Police Station and handed out Crime Prevention Advice over the christmas period. A 'Shop Safe' Initiative has begun with Officers holding meetings with the staff in the retail stores and advising them on how to detect, report and prevent crime in their stores.

Motoring Issues

That parents were concerned about speeding vehicles at Artigarvan Primary School.

Several speeding operations utilising Constable Bradley (motor cyclist) were carried out and NPT utilised operation schoolgate handing leaflets out to parents regarding seatbelts.

Underage Gambling

There was a problem with underage gambling in the Strabane area.

An operation was undertaken to have all gaming machines removed from fast food outlets and taxi offices. This stage of the operation is complete and has been successful to date.

Underage DrinkingVisits to all local Off Licences ensuring that they were demanding ID from youths.  Beat patrols carried out around Strabane town centre. Alcohol seizures carried out and referrals to the Youth Diversion Officer. Meetings with local Vintners.
