Bushmills

Bushmills NPT officers 2011

Bushmills covers Bushmills village, Ballintoy, Mosside, Liscolman, Billy and Armoy.  The population of this area would be approximately 5,000, but would greatly increase in the summer months. It has many tourist attractions within its area, the Giants Causeway, the Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge, Bushmills Distillery and the coast line. This year we will have a new Salmon and Whiskey Festival on the 22nd September, as well as the Armoy Road Race which attracts thousands of people to the area.

Get involved

The Partner & Community Together Team (PACT) process is working well in Moyle. This is where Police and other agencies work along with the community to identify priorities, explore solutions and take action.

How is this done in Moyle? We have not set up any new meetings; we do not ask anything more than you are already doing. We do the work, we attend all meetings that we can in your area, we talk to local representatives, and we use the DPP to speak to groups that don’t normally contact police. During consultations we take note of all concerns and the beginning of each month, the priorities are chosen from your concerns.

However we need your input and we would ask that this is done by whatever means you can, attend meetings, contact local NPT officers, E mail, or the next month or so, you can contact us on Facebook and twitter.

You can get involved with helping us to make your neighbourhood safer by telling us the issues that you think need to be addressed by attending one of your local partnership meetings.

You said

We Did

Anti-Social Behaviour in Bushmills

We have asked both Neighbourhood and Response Officers to respond to this when we can, we have also encouraged people in the area to report it.

Stop speeding drivers on the Main Street, Bushmills

We have asked Roads Policing to assist in speed operations and will work with Department of Vehicle and Transport Agency to take illegal cars off the road.  We will also use the Anti-Social Behaviour Order Legislation where appropriate.

Anti-Social Behaviour in some of the estates in Bushmills

We put extra patrols in the area and worked directly with the families involved.  We also involved Social Services and the Council in our discussions.

Theft in the Rural area

We have increased our patrols, using assistance from Crime Teams, Tactical Support Groups and Road Policing Units where possible.  We are maximising our Scene examination to gain all evidence to catch the offenders.  These actions have decreased the thefts and hopefully will continue to do so.  We have also set up a Rural Text System and mark farm trailers.
