Disturbance in Downpatrick, County Down

Police arrested a 30-year-old man in Downpatrick early on the morning of New Year's Day after a disturbance in the Church Street area of the town. There were between approximately 50 and 60 people on the street when the disorder occurred at around 12.45am. At one an attempt was made to obstruct police by a group of people throwing bottles.
The man has been released pending report to the Public Prosecution Service.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in Church Street at the time and witnessed the disturbance to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information may be given anonymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
