Stabbing in Cookstown, County Tyrone

Police in Dungannon are appealing for witnesses after a 23-year-old man was stabbed in Cookstown early on New Year's Day.

He was assaulted by three to four people following an altercation which started in a house in the Drum Road area of the town at around 2am and continued outside, where he was stabbed. Police later recovered a knife. The man was taken to hospital with a puncture wound to a lung and arm injuries and was later discharged.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the attack or who has any information to contact them at Dungannon on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information may be given anonymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
