Robbery, Lisburn, Co Antrim

05 Jan 2009

Detectives are investigating a robbery at Flowbog Road in the Dundrod area outside Lisburn.

At around 2.50pm on Monday 5 January, three masked men - armed with a shotgun and pistol - entered a house and forced a couple to sit on a kitchen floor while three flat-screen TVs and a sum of cash was removed.

The couple were not injured, nor were their two young children, both aged under five, who were with them at the time. The robbers made their escape in the family's blue VW Passat car and a Nissan Micra car they had arrived in. The Nissan was found at Cherry Park in Twinbrook shortly before 4pm and had been set alight.

Initial enquiries suggest that the Micra car was stolen from a female driver at Donnybrook Street at its junction with Lisburn Road shortly before 7.50pm on the evening of Sunday 4 January. The keys to the car were grabbed from a woman in her 30s when she was parked outside a super-market. A maroon coloured 4x4 vehicle may have been used.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in any of these areas or has information should contact detectives by calling 0845 600 8000, alternatively information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
