Kidnap and robbery, Belfast City Centre

Detectives are appealing for information following a kidnap and robbery in Belfast City Centre last night (Friday 23 January).

A number of masked and armed men entered the home of a woman on the Antrim Road and claimed they were holding her sister’s children hostage. The woman was forced to drive to her place of employment at a watch store in the Queen’s Arcade area, where the kidnappers stole a large quantity of valuable watches.

After the robbery she was released and her vehicle was later found burnt out in the area of Kinnaird Terrace, Belfast.

The victim and her family were released unharmed but extremely shaken by their ordeal.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed any activity, in a silver Hyundai vehicle in the Antrim road area around 6:00pm and later at the Queen’s arcade area between 7:00pm and 9:00pm to contact them at Antrim Road CID on 0845 600 8000.
