Suspicious object warning, Castlewellan, Co Down

Police are urging members of the public in the Castlewellan area to be cautious and vigilant following a telephoned bomb warning received by police on Tuesday 27th January.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious or odd activity, particularly in the Burrenreagh Road and Dublin Road areas, to contact them.

Police would urge local people to avoid this area.

Any member of the public who comes across any suspicious object or vehicles, in particular a dark coloured Volkswagen, is asked not to touch it and contact their local station immediately.

At this time police would ask the public for their patience and co-operation, and would apologise for any inconvenience.
