Armed Robbery, Cash In Transit Van, Crumlin Road, North Belfast

Police in North Belfast are appealing for information following the robbery of a cash in transit van at commercial premises on the Crumlin Road this morning (Saturday 21 March).

Around 10.10am a security guard was approached by a male brandishing a handgun and ordered to drop the cash box he was holding. The robber picked up the box which contained a substantial sum of cash, and made off in a blue coloured Renault Laguna car which sped off in the direction of Ardoyne. The vehicle was recovered a short time later.

The robber is described as being aged between 28 and 35 years, around 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build and clean shaven with a rounded face and was wearing a hoody with light coloured arms, stonewashed jeans and light coloured trainers.

Detectives on Antrim Road are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the incident. They are especially keen to speak to anyone who can help identify the movements of the blue Renault Laguna car registration plate HEZ 7993, between Thursday 19 March and the time of the robbery, today Saturday 21 March.  Any information can be passed to detectives on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
