Burglary, Holywood Exchange

08 Apr 2009

Police are investigating a burglary at a retail unit at Holywood Exchange in the early hours of Wednesday 8 April.

Shortly after 4.30am, three males in a silver Subaru Imprezza estate car reversed the vehicle against fire doors at the front of the store. They then smashed a window in the fire door and gained entry to the premises before tying a rope from the car around an ATM machine and attempting to pull the machine from the building. Their attempt was unsuccessful and the car made off at speed from the area. A male member of staff who was inside the store at the time and came to investigate the incident was threatened with a hammer by one of the men involved.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have any information about this incident to contact them at Musgrave Street on 0845 600 8000. Anonymous information can also be passed to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
