Armed Robbery, Mallusk Road, Newtownabbey

Police are appealing for information following the robbery of a cash-in -transit van at commercial premises on the Mallusk Road, Newtownabbey this evening. Shortly before 7.30pm a security guard was approached by a male, brandishing a handgun, who ordered him to handover the cash box he was carrying. The robber took the cash box, which contained a substantial sum of money, and made off in a green coloured Vauxhall Vectra driven by an accomplice. The vehicle was recovered a short time later, on fire, at Hydepark Lane, a short distance away.
Detectives at Newtownabbey are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the incident. They are especially keen to speak to anyone who can help identify the movements of the green Vauxhall Vectra car registration plate TIW 9464, between 29th March and tonight's robbery.
