04 Apr 2009

Five males; two aged 40, the others aged 21, 26 and 27 years, have been charged with possession of a class 'B' drug, and possession with intent to supply a class 'B' drug.

They are expected to appear at Laganside Magistrate’s Court on Monday 6 April.

As is normal procedure, the charges are subject to review by the Public Prosecution Service.

It is understood the charges relate to an operation in the Holywood Exchange area on Friday 3 April.

During the operation, detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Branch, assisted by HM Revenue and Customs, seized cannabis worth around £700,000. A sum of cash was also seized as well as three vehicles.
