Serious assault, Newry

Police in Newry are appealing for information about a serious assault at Merchants Quay.

Shortly after 7.15pm on Sunday 19th April a disturbance in a bar was reported to police.

Initial enquiries suggest that a man who had been in the bar was assaulted by four men shortly after they entered the premises.

The man was taken to hospital with facial injuries and an injury to his head.

Police are working to establish a motive for the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
