Aggravated Burglary, Greenisland, County Antrim

Detectives in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in the Moyard Gardens area of Greenisland that occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday 8 August.
A 20-year-old male sustained cuts, bruising and a broken elbow after he was assaulted by up to 7 males. The males had forced their way into a house in Moyard Gardens and it is understood that iron bars may have been used during the incident. Damage was also caused to the interior of the house and a number of windows smashed.
The intruders were all wearing balaclavas and green combat style trousers.
The 20 year old victim remains in hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening at this time.
A motive has yet to be established and detectives are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact CID at Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000, or information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
