Assault, Newcastle

Detectives are appealing for information about an assault in Newcastle, County Down.

At 11.30pm on Saturday 1 August, it was reported that a man had been assaulted in Tollymore Forest Park.  The man was taken to hospital with a number of stab wounds, believed to have been caused by a knife.  Details of his injuries are still being confirmed, however at present they are not believed to be life-threatening.

A man aged in his 30s and a woman were arrested.

Police are working to establish the circumstances of the incident.
