Theft of safe, Saintfield, County Down

Detectives in Downpatrick are investigating an incident where a vehicle was driven at commercial premises in the Main Street area of Saintfield in the early hours of Monday 10 August.
Around 3.30am, police received a report that a mechanical digger had been driven at the rear of a post office, causing substantial damage to the building. A large safe was removed and an undisclosed sum of cash taken. The rear of adjoining premises was also badly damaged.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was in the area at the time, or who has any information, to come forward and contact them on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information about crime can be passed anonymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111.
