Devices thrown, Derry

Police and Army Technical Officers attended two incidents in the Creggan area of Derry.

On the evening of Sunday 6 December, officers attended reports at 8.25pm that a pipe bomb type device had been thrown through the window of a parked car in the Circular Road area. Police responded to a similar incident a short time later around 8:35pm in the Iniscarn Crescent area. Neither of the devices are believed to have exploded and Army Technical Officers were tasked to both scenes.

From late in the evening of Sunday 6 December until the early hours of Monday 7 December, petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown at police attending the scenes. There were no injuries.

Police and Army Technical Officers left the scene at around 5am. The two devices were removed for further examination and enquiries are ongoing.

Enquiries are in the initial stages and a link between the two incidents has yet to be established although this forms one line of enquiry.
