Distraction burglary, Dungannon

19 Dec 2009

Detectives are investigating following a distraction burglary in Dungannon on Friday 18 December.

Shortly after 7pm two men called at the home of a woman in her 80s on Carland Road.

The men, purporting to be police officers, tricked their way into the house.  The occupant, believing the men to be genuine police officers investigating a crime, handed over a substantial sum of cash. It's believed the males then left the area on foot.

The first male is described as in his 40s or 50s, around 6' tall of a stout build and wearing a blue coloured top.  The second is described as being around 30 years old, of a smaller build than the first and also wearing a blue top.

Detectives at Dungannon CID are keen for anyone with information to come forward.  They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Carland Road area, particularly in the vicinity of the hospital roundabout, at around the time of the incident.  They can be contacted on 0845 600 8000.  Information about crime can also be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
