Trevor Spiers murder - an update

16 Dec 2009

Detectives investigating the murder of 28 years old Trevor Spiers in Portstewart are now questioning four men.

Trevor, who was from Portstewart, died in hospital after being attacked close to a nightclub in the vicinity of The Promenade in the early hours of  Sunday December 13 2009. The fourth man, who is 23 years old,  was arrested in the Coleraine area of County Londonderry on Monday December 14.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Ian Harrison, said many people could have seen what happened:

“My appeal is for witnesses who were in the area around the time of the attack.  There were a significant number of people visiting the pubs and clubs in the area and we would like to speak to them so we can find out what happened.  There could be at least 40 to 50 people that saw the attack.

Anyone who was in the area is asked to contact Coleraine police station on 0845 600 8000 and ask to be put through to the incident room.  Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  Do not take for granted that we have all the facts at hand.  I would rather hear the same information twice than not hear it at all.”
