Man Assaulted, Crossgar Road, Killyleagh

Police in Downpatrick are appealing for information following an incident on the outskirts of Killyleagh this morning, Thursday 12 February 2009.

Around 8:40am, a man in his late twenties, who was waiting at a bus stop on the Killyleagh Road, was assaulted by an unknown male brandishing a silver coloured bar. The assailant made off on foot in the direction of Crossgar Road towards Crossgar.

The attacker is described as being 25 years old, between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 6 inches tall, of slim build and with facial stubble. He was wearing a red baseball cap, a grey hooded top with the hood pulled up, navy blue Adidas tracksuit top, blue combat trousers and sand coloured boots.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.
