Robbery, Downpatrick
16 Feb 2009
Detectives in Downpatrick are appealing for information following a robbery at business premises in the Ballyduggan Retail Park in the town on the morning of Monday February 16.
Shortly before 8am, two males, pretending to be workmen, entered the rear of the premises. One of the males forced a member of staff to remove an amount of cash from the safe. The males then tied the two female staff members up before leaving in one of their cars, a green ford Focus, which was recovered a short time later on the Ballyduggan Road.
The staff members were not injured, but badly shaken by their ordeal. The two males were both wearing blue overalls. One was around 6' tall, believed to be in his mid 40's and was wearing a white hard hat with a grey coloured hat underneath. His accomplice was around 5'10" tall and was carrying a small red coloured toolbox.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have noticed two males leaving the Ballyduggan Road Industrial estate after 8am in a green coloured Ford Focus car. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have noticed a charcoal grey coloured People carrier vehicle, possibly a Toyota or Mitsubishi, parked in the area opposite the Industrial estate.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact CID at Downpatrick on 0845 600 8000, or information about crime can be passed to the charity Crimestoppers number anonymously on 0800 555 111.
