Fatal road traffic collision, East Belfast

An 89 year old man has died in hospital two weeks after being struck by a car on the Newtownards Road, east Belfast.

The man was in a wheelchair which was struck by a silver coloured Vauxhall Vectra car shortly before 6pm on Saturday 20 June.

He was taken to hospital at the time of the collision with leg and head injuries but died on Saturday 4 July. The driver of the car is not believed to have been injured.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, which happened close to Belvoir Street, to contact them at Strandtown 0845 600 8000.
