PSNI rescue youths, Fairhead, Ballycastle

Police in Ballycastle rescued a number of youths in the Fairhead area on Saturday, 4 July, after they lost their way during a hike.

The six female youths, aged between 17 and 23, were reported missing at 10.17pm.

Police and the Coastguard launched a search operation. The police helicopter was successful in locating two of the girls and lifting them to safety while the remaining four were also located and lifted to safety by the Coastguard.

Guidance: The girls were taking part in the hike under the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. There were no injuries reported.
