Cash Machine Robbery Bid

29 Jun 2009

Detectives in Dungannon are appealing for information after a stolen mechanical digger was crashed into the wall of a filling station shop near the town.

Police believe the target was a cash machine at the premises at Ballygawley Road, however due to the extent of damage caused to the wall of the building, it has not yet been established whether the machine was stolen.

The incident happened at about 3.30am on Monday. The criminals used a tracked mechanical digger taken from road works close to the garage, which is near the end of the M1.

Anyone who noticed the digger in the forecourt of the garage or any other vehicles nearby is asked to contact police. The number to call is 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
