Take the Plunge!

Brave men and women are getting ready for the first ever Super Plunge at Bangor Marina on 12 and 13 June. Participants will take a chilly dip into a pool of water and ice, every hour on the hour for 24 hours to raise funds for local Special Olympics athletes.
The Super Plunge, organised by the PSNI Law Enforcement Torch Run committee and will take place during the North Down Borough Council Sea Bangor Maritime Festival.
Chairman of the Law Enforcement Torch Run committee, Assistant Chief Constable Duncan McCausland, said: “This is the first ever Super Plunge for Special Olympics to take place in Northern Ireland and I’m encouraging everyone to come and support the courageous volunteers taking on this challenge. Our aim is to raise awareness and support for our local Special Olympics athletes to continue to train and compete.”
Alison Stobie, Marketing Officer for North Down Tourism commented: “North Down Borough Council are pleased to be involved in this first Super Polar Plunge event in aid of Special Olympics as part of Maritime Month. I wish all the participants all the very best for the challenge.”
