Police warn re dangers of stone throwing, Limavady

Police in Limavady are appealing for information following a report of youths throwing large rocks from the bridge that runs over the bypass on Monday night (25 May). A car belonging to one motorist was struck at approximately 9.30pm.
Fortunately the driver was not hurt however the consequences could have been fatal. This sort of reckless action can cause a driver to lose control of their vehicle, putting the lives of other road users at serious risk. Police are keen to identify anyone involved in the incident.
Meanwhile police received a report on Sunday night (24 May) in relation to youths throwing stones at passing cars in the Tracey's Way area of Dungiven. Anyone who can help police in relation to either of these matters is asked to contact the station on 0845 600 8000 or the 'Crimestoppers' charity on 0800 555 111.
Parents need to satisfy themselves that their children are not involved in this type of dangerous behaviour. Police will take action against anyone caught endangering the lives of motorists in this way.
