Police in Derry have warned that members of the public could have been seriously injured as a result of an incident in Duke Street in the early hours of Monday morning, 25 May.
Shortly before 2.20am, police responded to the area after a group of people began to gather in the middle of the road.
As officers at Fountain Hill were preventing a group of disorderly males from the crowd from moving onto Fountain Hill/ Spencer Road, one of the males released the hand-brake in a police car, causing it to roll back into a barrier at Duke Street.
A male aged in his early 20s was arrested at the scene in connection with the disorder.
An officer was struck in the back with a stone or missile but did not require hospital treatment.
