Officer injured and shot discharged, Twinbrook

An officer was injured after she was struck by a car in an incident in Twinbrook, County Antrim, during which a shot was discharged by police.
Shortly after 11.55pm on Saturday 3 May, a Peugeot 406 vehicle struck a police patrol car at Summerhill Road / Thornhill Crescent.
When a female officer got out of the police car she was struck by the Peugeot.
An officer discharged one shot at the vehicle, which was found to contain a small amount of suspected drugs.
The driver of the vehicle made off on foot.
As is normal procedure, police have informed the Police Ombudsman's office, who are investigating the incident.
The female officer struck by the car was taken to hospital with an injury to her hand, cuts and bruising. A second female officer was treated in hospital for shock.
