Robbery cash in transit van, Newry

Police in Newry are investigating an armed robbery of a cash in transit van on the Belfast Road this morning (Wednesday 13 May).

Shortly after 7:15am the van was making a delivery to a filling station when the security guard was attacked by an unknown assailant who struck him on the arm with a baton.  A substantial amount of money was taken.

The robber is described as 6ft tall and was wearing dark clothing, black wig and fake beard.  He made off in a blue coloured VW Bora car registration number TE 03VSK, which has recovered a short time later in the McKinstry road area of Dunmurry.
