Policing Board appoints new Assistant Chief Constable

The Northern Ireland Policing Board (the Board) today (4 November) announced the appointment of the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s (PSNI) newest Assistant Chief Constable, Chief Superintendent Will Kerr.
Chairman of the Board, Barry Gilligan said: “This is the 3rd Senior Officer Recruitment campaign undertaken by the Board this year and Chief Superintendent Kerr joins the command team at an important time for policing.
On behalf of the Board I would like to congratulate him on his appointment and we look forward to working with him. The Board would also like to take this opportunity to thank the other candidates who were interviewed for the post and wishes them well in the future”.
Chief Superintendent Will Kerr is Head of Training and Development and has responsibility for the successful operation and development of the Police College in line with the organisation's strategic objectives. When the 29 districts were restructured to eight in 2007 Chief Superintendent Kerr took up the post of Commander of ‘H’ District covering Larne, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine and Moyle. Prior to this he was District Commander in Newtownabbey.
He has been a Police Officer for almost 20 years, and has served in a variety of operational posts across Northern Ireland and has also worked in Crime Department as a Senior Investigating Officer.
