Kidnapping incident, South Belfast
27 Nov 2009
Detectives are appealing for information following a kidnapping in the South Belfast area on Thursday 26 November.
At approximately 9:30pm, four masked and armed males entered a house in the South Belfast area. The female occupant of the house was told to go to her place of work in the Boucher Road area and remove cash while her partner was taken away in a van. Two other adults and two children were also in the house at the time but were unharmed.
The female followed the culprits to the commercial premises where she works, removed money from the safe and handed it over. Once this was done, her partner was released from the van unharmed.
Three males have been arrested and are currently helping police with their inquiries.
Detectives investigating the incident are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a light-coloured van acting suspiciously in the Stewart's Street area or a Renault Scenic acting suspiciously in the Markets area. Anyone with information should contact detectives at North Queen Street on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
