Assault, Falls Road, West Belfast

Police in west Belfast are appealing for information following an incident in which a 14-year-old girl was assaulted in the Falls Road area on Sunday, 8 November.

The incident occurred on the Falls Road near it's junction with Dunville Park between 4.30pm and 5.45pm. The victim was approached by an unknown male who struck her a number of times, knocked her to the ground, and continued to assault her until a passer-by intervened. The assailant then fled down nearby Dunville Street.

The assailant is described as being around 40 years of age and had grey stubble on his face. He was wearing a tan coloured bomber jacket, a similarly coloured baseball cap, grey tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe and trainers.

The victim sustained minor injuries and has been left traumatised by her ordeal. Police continue to investigate a motive for the assault.

It is understood that a number of people were in the area at the time, and police are appealing for them to come forward.
