Detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch arrested four men after foiling what is believed to have been a planned terrorist attack in Garrison, County Fermanagh.

During the incident which occurred just after 6pm on Saturday evening, November 21, a shot was fired by terrorists. Two warning shots were fired by police. The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland has been informed of the discharge of shots by police.

Colleagues in An Garda Siochana who assisted PSNI officers also arrested a man in connection with this incident.

PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott said:

"Tackling terrorism is a major priority and I can confirm that last night we thwarted a terrorist attack.

"There have been four arrests made by my PSNI colleagues and during the course of that, two warning shots were fired by police and it appears that one was fired by terrorists.

"I want to commend the professionalism, the courage and the bravery of my PSNI colleagues in dealing with the incident and secondly, I want to thank the people of Garrison for their support and their patience in what is an ongoing operation, he said.
