Kidnapping incident, Dufferin Avenue, Bangor
19 Oct 2009
Detectives in Bangor are appealing for information following a kidnapping incident in the town on Sunday 18 October.
Just before 8pm, two males armed with handguns and wearing balaclavas, called at a house in the Dufferin Avenue area. One of the males told the 22-year-old female occupant of the house to get the keys to her place of work and get into her car while the second male remained in the house with the 25-year-old male occupant.
The culprit made the female drive to Market Street, Newtownards, and ordered her to enter her place of work in the Castle Street area and remove money from the safe. The female removed an undisclosed sum of cash from the safe before returning to the car and driving back to Primrose Street, Bangor, where the male then got out of the car. It is believed the male who had remained at the house left at around the same time. The female then returned to her home and contacted the police.
Both victims were not injured but were left shaken by their ordeal.
Detectives in Bangor are investigating and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a black Volkswagen Sharan car in the Market Street area of Newtownards between 8 and 8:30pm.
